A mother is first and foremost, assuredly, a servant to her family. She is continuously learning and relearning her place in the hearts, minds and lives of her children as they grow and change. It is not they who have the first light, but her and she understands that she can give light to them without losing her own, It is her purpose and delight to do so.  She passes her flame onto them,  resting for a moment she hovers,  then returns to her place.  It is her greatest service to  know  when to hover and when to return.  She is the very first shammash in all creation.
